Rain. It’s the one word that couples do not want to hear on or around their wedding day. However, rainy weddings have become some of my favorites. Not just because of the favorable lighting and colors, but also because it is one small test, the first of many that will come as their new partnership in marriage grows. Unfair as that may be after a couple has spent months, maybe even years planning their wedding day, having zero control over the weather forces a couple to confront a less-than-desirable situation together on their first day of marriage. I have to tell you that every single couple I have walked through a rainy wedding with has totally risen to the occasion. Chrissy and Stevan are a prime example.

I met Chrissy in high school and she was absolutely one of the sweetest people I knew! As soon as I met Stevan, I could tell just how much they adored each other. Stevan is a police officer in Philadelphia and Chrissy teaches in Downingtown. They love all things Philly (note the strong flyers representation!) and are both history buffs. Naturally, they got engaged in Valley Forge National park at the end of a summer-long road trip touring historic sites across the country.

I just know that their wedding day was the beginning of their family legacy, and come rain or shine, that will be a legacy of love.
